Nicole Lavelle
Length of time with the PZS?
first year!
How did you get involved? / What attracted you to this job?
The symposium feels to me like a big potluck or birthday party for the things I love the most about Portland. AND I've never been. Who wants to miss out on a zine potluck eight years in a row? AND my sister is friends with Blue and one morning we accidentally had breakfast together and I thought, "DAMN it sounds cool to organize such an event."
What do you do for PZS?
Forms, numbers, drudging through the administration and bureaucracy/bureaucrazy of Portland State to get money. Bugging students I know to get involved. If the Symposium and PSU were islands, I am a ferryboat.
Favorite parts of the event?
I don't know yet! Not expenditure forms, though.
Age, and anything you'd like to say about your self...
20 big ones. TWO WHOLE DECADES, YO. I love Portland. It's finally my home and not just a new place I live. I live with 8 people at 2 cats in a former old-folks home. I spend the winters hiding in a bedroom-cave with yellow walls, geeking out on school and writing letters. Spring will now find me on the front porch trying not to get sunburned.
You might know me from..
Sporadic IPRC volunteering, Reading Frenzy Sunday afternoon shifts! Art classes at PSU, trying to redesign the Art Annex at PSU, co-inventor of the PSU Student Zine Library, artist-in-residence at various Portland food carts.
Etc, etc, etc..
STOKED FOR AUGUST!
