11:30-1:00 Workshop Session I
- Intro to Zines/Finding Distro for your Zine - A basic overview of zine making. What is a zine? How do you go about creating one? How do you copy it? Where and how do you promote it? Also basics "zine etiquette" for trading, finding distribution and networking with other zinesters.
- Super 9 Film Basics - Reed Harkness and Friends from the Tiny Picture Club will lead a comprehensive introduction to Super 8 film including shooting, hand developing and direct animation.
- Race and Zines - Ciara McEwen and others will present and lead discussions on race in the zine community. Topics will include globalization/FTAA and it's relations to institutional racism. All are welcome for this vital workshop.
1:30-3:00 Workshop Session II
- DIY Comics - Shawn Granton from Ten Foot Rule will present techniques, skills and publishing and distribution ideas about the world of DIY comics.
- Gender Roles and Stereotypes in the Zine Community - Eleanor Whitney. A discussion and exploration of gender's relationship to zines. Why are some types of zines considered "girl" zines? And some "boy" zines? Why are some people marginalized in the zine community because of their gender and the tone of their zine? How is it possible to fight and transcend gender roles and stereotypes in the zine community?
- Electrical Wiring Basics - Joe will help you learn the basics of electrical wiring. Topics will include basic circuits, home wiring, routing through walls, how electricity works and more. What a valuable DIY skill!
3:30-5:00 Workshop Session III
- Indymedia 101 - Ayleen and others from Portland Indymedia will talk about the global media activist network that is indymedia, how indymedia is similar to (or an extension of) zines, and how to get involved with indymedia. A great workshop for anyone curious about indymedia or who is looking to get involved as a photographer, writer, reporter or web designer.
- Zine Libraries - Zine librarian Greig from the Independent Publishing Resource Center and Travis, librarian and creater of America? zine will present how zine libraries work, how to submit your zines, and the historical importance of zine libraries.
- Sewing and Knitting Basics - The PDX Sewing group will teach participants knitting and sewing basic patterns. Yam, needles, sewing machines and fabric will be provided.
5:30 Community Dinner / Grand Theft Photocopy
- Copy scams/Postal scams/Shoplifting - Learn the tricks of your less-than-legal trade. Timmy will cover the inside of what a Kinko's employee looks for. Joe will cover how to run postage scams, how to clean stamps for reusal purposes, how to make counterfeit coupons and more. We will have many different ideas for stealing photocopies presented from different folks. Chris will lead the shoplifting workshop (still slightly tentative). Other scams are welcome.

1:00 - 2:30 Workshop Session I
- Radical Cheerleading - The Portland Radical Cheerleaders will demonstrate and teach cheers, chants and basic movements and discuss how to go about forming your own radical cheerleading squad. Participants will write and perform a cheer.
- Offset Printing your Project - Eric Bagdonas from Black Berry Press. Are you ready to make the jump from the copy shop to the print shop? How do you decide? How do you find a good printer? How do you set up your project for offset printing? All of this and more!
- Bike Repair Basics - Bike mechanics from the Community Cycling Center will give an overview of bike repair including how to find the proper size and type of bike, how to fix a flat, tips on commuting and more.
3:00-4:30 Workshop Session II
- Bookbinding, Block- and Screenprinting and Paper Making - Eleanor Whitney, Gillian Beck, Alex Wrekk, and Muffie White will give a hands-on overview of art zines, book structures and bookbinding, paper making, block- and screenprinting.
- Fine Tuning your Writing Skills - Theresa Molter and Natalie Jacobs. What is a good zine without good writing? Grammar and punctuation basics, commonly made zinester mistakes and creative writing techniques to allow your writing to be the best it can be!
- Media Tactics and Copyright Basics - A presentation about the ins and outs of copyright law and how to go about copyrighting your project. Also, how to approach the media, what to do if the media approaches you and other helpful tactics.
